Hand Painted Elm Tree Pendants

This design was modelled after a beautiful lone Elm tree that stands on the side of the TransCanada Highway between Winnipeg and Brandon. I etched the tree onto a piece of plaster, making a press mold. The pendant is crafted from porcelain clay, kiln-fired, then hand painted with acrylics.

One of my signature designs, this decorative turtle dish is hand-built (with slabs and coils), with anatomically similar shell plate design, and attached legs and head. They are glazed green, and pit fired. Smoky effects are visible on the underside of the bowls.
